Things to do at Stewarts Pond Campsites
- Basketball area. Camp Beach (No lifeguard on duty), flotation devices permitted. NO DOGS ON BEACH PLEASE!!!
- Recreation Hall. It has a pool table, new "fooz ball" and air hockey tables, ping pong, video games, a large rack with brochures of the Adirondack area, booths, fireplace, and shuffleboard. This is where the camp social activities take place; such as our "Pizza Night" or our "Pot Luck Dinners". It provides a great place to come in out of the rain! Pool sticks, ping pong balls, etc., can be obtained at the office.
- We have 2 canoes, 3 rowboats (ONE-12 FT.-HAS ELECTRIC TROLLING MOTOR-ONE-14 FT.-HAS 6 HP MOTOR, OTHER HAS NO MOTOR). We also have a paddleboat for rent, all at very reasonable prices!Fishing, waterskiing, and jetskiing are permitted, but they have to be done beyond the beach area. Boats can be moored
at the beach area. We have no large camp mooring dock yet here, but hope to have in the future! L19, and L23 have docks that come with the site rentals. L11 and L10 are on the water also. There are not docks at this time there, but boats can be moored there. There is also another boat mooring area (NOT A DOCK) near Site L18.
- Go mountain climbing up "Jeffers Mt." located just across the lake from our beach! Take your bikes and tour the area around Stewarts Pond and Great Sacandaga Lake. River rafting may be enjoyed just 5 min.away!
- We have free hot showers and flush toilets with electrical outlets for your use, in our Main Shower House/Bathroom near Site #1. There is a footpath from this bathroom to the upper road area- Sites 23A-33. The playground, and pay phone are located at the Shower House/Main Bath also. There are electric outlets there for hair dryers, etc.
- Each site has a fireplace for cooking with a grate.If your site does not have a grate, just ask, as we have extras at the office. There is a picnic table at each site. If your group is large, extra tables can be added. Public water spigots are located throughout the camp, (see them on our interactive map).
- Campers have asked whether we have a problem with mosquitos, and I happily tell them we don't have many bugs at all here!
- ALL CAMPERS PLEASE NOTE : NO CAMPERS ARE ALLOWED TO CUT THROUGH OTHER CAMPSITES, OR USE ANY PRIVATE DOCKS!! THESE ARE FOR SEASON CAMPERS USE ONLY! Thank you for your co-operation in respecting the privacy of our season campers!
- The areas to moor your boats are: to the right of our main camp beach (follow signs to Beach), and to the right of "The Point" past Site L18 (PLEASE FOLLOW SIGNS POSTED NEAR SITE L 19 ,AND FOLLOW PATH THROUGH THE WOODS! DO NOT CUT THROUGH SITE L18 PLEASE! THIS IS A SEASON CAMPSITE!).
- STEWARTS POND is actually a 5 MILE RESERVOIR where ALL water sports are permitted. It has a large dam (Conklingville Dam) on the northern end, and the southern end (Stewarts Dam).The Great Sacandaga Lake is north of the Conklingville Dam, and is NOT accessible from our lake by boat, but is only 3 minutes from our camp. There is a marina on Sacandaga called Majestic Mt. Marina (phone is 518-696-3727).
